I have the storm now and my service is through verizon. If i unlock it will verizon service still work, and could i do anything more with it unlocked than i can now?

Yes it will work, no you can't do anything more on Verizon. You can go to a GSM provider though. What more do you want to do??

I have the same setup. Nothing special. Just the nice to have the freedom of using another SIM/network when traveling to another country or something

Yes it will work just fine, the Verizon SIM Card is only when you are traveling to another place other wise you can use other US SIM Cards the typical AT&T and T-Mobile
