ok so how the heck do i go about transfering the contacts from my curve to my storm through bb desktop manager? i have tryed a few different things but it dosend seem to work.

plug in the curve go to backup and back it up... then plug in the storm and restore it......

Switch device wizard is your best friend. Should be one of the first options in DM

ok i dont have the curve any more but i do have an old back up file from it so i can just back up from that file?

Yes, you should be able to restore from that back up without a problem. You can do a selective restore if you just want the contacts, otherwise it will restore everything from the previous device.
