Desktop manager main menu....plug in old bb abd click on transfer bb to bb..I believe bottom left option let it run through and plug in new bb

clear your browser cache and history, etc...usually that causes DM errors with backup/restore...
also make sure you have DM 5.0, that helps with the issue of fatal errors, etc...
