can you give any info on how to do it correctly? ive backed up phone, what is the next best thing to do?

First install the OS onto your PC.

If you have backed up the phone, the next step is to delete the vendor.xml file.

    On your PC, open C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Apploader.

    Delete the vendor.xml file.

    Hook up to your PC.

    Open the Loader.exe program.

    Follow the prompts.

Biggest noticeable change for you will be the transitions. Better memory management.

whats the reason for deleting the vendor.xml file? not changing carriers.
    08-13-09 01:45 PM
  11. Michael Hepples's Avatar
The .151 OS is a release from Iusacell in Mexico. AppLoader scans for the carrier you are locked to, and crosschecks that with the vendor.xml file in the OS you are attempting to load. No vendor.xml, no flag that you are installing an OS that is not approved by your carrier.

looks like its going thru now, just waiting. screen shows arrows, which appears to be a transfer between pc and blackberry. nothing moving however

Yup that's fine. The arrows show that ur computer is communicating with BlackBerry and vice versa

shouldn't the arrows be moving back and forth? sorry, really new at this, and dont want to ruin this thing

sometimes it acts like the arrows flicker, but patience is key. Sometimes an upload can take anywhere from 20-40mins

Stop watching it, and go take a walk. Leave it alone, and let it finish. As someone once said, "a watched pot never boils".

small problem, it now says that no updates are available. did i do something wrong?

U probably try to do it through DM (Desktop Manager) it said the same thing for me, but if u go to Crogram files>>common files>>Research In Motion>>Loader and u'll see the loader.exe file, if u run that then it'll update.

Make sure ur previous OS has been deleted from the computer before installing .151
