Can someone please tell me if there is a standby mode for the storm? All previous berries have this battery saving mode and I really hope RIM didn't overlook this on the battery hungry Storm. All my phone has is a screen lock and a useless mute key.
    Thanks!

Also. In the browser. Anyone find that clicking on and using grey buttons is damn near impossible because they don't highlight?

The only way I know to put the storm in standby mode is to holster the device is in a magnetic holster. Also the screen is heat sensitive. It only comes on with the touch of a finger. That keeps it from be turned without you knowing it.

The Standby button is located on the top left of the device.

I just looked at the 101 video here BlackBerry 9530 BB-101.

Sorry, that's not the standby button for the Storm.

It's the lock button. The Storm (as of .75) does not have a manually triggered standby function.

Now, that is interesting because on al other Blackberry models, the Standby button is dual function Mute/Standby. Mute whilst on a call and Standby at all other times.

The link I posted from the Blackberry site shows this clearly.

Yeah, unfortunately that's the way it should work, but they did not implement a manual standby on the Storm.

The Storm has two buttons up top; left is lock, right is mute

Many people have tried clicking and/or holding down either of those buttons for various lengths of time to no avail. Left button just locks the phone regardless of how short/long you depress it.

Edit: see here for additional complaints

The only way to get the Storm to go Standby right now is via magnet.

This is something RIM needs to address in a future update. It would save a lot of battery power.

Wow, what an oversight. Have you tried Autostandby AutoStandby - Personal Productivity BlackBerry Software - Crackberry Store this program works fine on my 8310 and saves battery life enormously. It costs $5.95.
