i am very scared to upgrade to .230..167 is almost perfect on my phone..maybe you guys can convince me..advice would be helpful...i cant imagine anything being better than .167.i realize there are some cool upgrades in .230 but will it run as smooth as .167
It runs awesome!! There are a few glitches but I believe the pros outweigh the cons by a long shot.
Go for it. The worst that happens is you hate it and you go back to .167. I've done like 20 up/downgrades on my phone since I've had it. It's fun to be able to do it.
stay with .167 dude. no major difference. if it aint broke dont fix it. also vzw will be releasing a update soon so dont bother. .230 too many bugs
have you ever actually used it? It's a world of difference bro... Flick Scrolling, better app opennng/closing, threaded sms, better colors as someone said, and just generally BETTER OS...
another vote for .230 for the reasons stated above. I've used .148, .167 and .230 for several weeks each, and .230 is the best BY FAR. And by far I mean...very far.
I'd expect the official 5.0 OS to be out sometime soon. Launching the new FB app, the new BBM, and everything seems to point that way. And they must be ready to support it soon since the Storm 2 will be running it.
I like it but I also say wait for the next unofficial release to come out. The SMS glitch is annoying if you txt a lot, the Speakerphone sounds horrible, sometimes there is some half screen issues, if you do any bit of copying and paste there is an issue with that as well were the screen scrolls down on you when your attempting to multi touch to copy.

I went back to 167 after less than a week. Its not as snappy as 5.0.230 but the bugs are too much. Plus the portrait keyboard on 167 destroys the 230 keyboard. Flick scrolling was the best thing. Threaded SMS is okay, I don't see the appeal, we already had close to it, and it was a pain to get the newest msg. 5.0 was ok, but I wasn't impressed, rather let down by it after all the hype. The few things that are improved were outweighed by it's bugs and weird tendencies like trying to put the cursor where you want it in a text field. I also can't get past the media player bug, as the phone is my car stereo. The keyboard is my biggest issue, it should've gotten better, not worse. I type very well on 167. My week on 230 had a typo in almost every word I typed.

i had .167 for a few weeks, just loaded .230 today...
1) load the full .exe file, not the hybrid
2) the benefits so far are cool, the bugs are annoying at best, nothing that's prevented use of my phone...
3) compared to .167 it seems like i have less memory, a tad bit battery, slightly stronger signal, and the device runs fine...i had some bad memory issues on .167, with the same apps, plus a few extras, my memory is better.
it's worth trying for yourself, you can always go back if you don't like it...
