I've being put movies on it, and some of the widesreen ones have fairly big bars on the top and bottom, so I was hoping to zoom in a bit...
Zooming in at all in that state is going to make the sides of the picture unviewable...you'd give up alot of viewable picture to zoom in on the centre part.
I also don't think its going to be technically impossible to do on the phone itself..you might find some video editing software that could do it though if you're really determined.

Yeah I agree I would love to see this feature but as of right now you cannot.

You will give up viewable picture but in return you will use more of the screen for viewing.
the iphone does it.... No I dont own a Iphone and I will never buy one, but I'm just saying Iphone gives you the option to zoom into movies.
I agree. Having had a Pearl before this I find that I have no problems at all with viewing any kind of video on the Storm full screen! I have at some point converted most of my 452GB of video to work on it and I still haven't found anything that doesn't look good on it.
And definitely as good (if not better) as the iPhone any day of the week!

would you have any suggestions for someone working with a letterboxed movie?
I'd think with the widescreen features of the phone would minimize the 'black space'
