First uninstall windows media center. Then install mythtv. Then just use ffmpeg and it does it all for you. It'll even kickout files at the specific resolution you want after the show is recorded and put them all in a special folder for syncing to your device. Oh and did I mention that all that happens with free software (oh and there is a community of people to support it for free much like crackberry.com does for blackberry).
