questions about battery pull.
- Hello all. I recently got my storm from verzion. I notice that I would have to do a battery pull or schedule reset to keep it from freezing/ slowing or just to keep it functional. This is my first smart phone and I come to accept that this procedure is require to maintain the performance of my storm. I was just wondering if why it was designed this way. Seeing that other phones don't have this issue. Is it to say that a storm straight out of the box is destined to have a decline in performance until it receives its first reset? I guess that's why I didn't like my storm at first because it froze shortly after a few and it took awhile to power-up after a reset. Lol. Just wondering why settle for this when other phones don't have this whole resetting thing. I love my storm now thx to the great work of others on crackberry. Feedback greatly appreciated and thank you

- You should not have to do battery pulls frequently. I haven't pulled mine in the past 2 weeks, I've got about 28 meg of memory and my phone doesn't lag at all (unless I open up 4 or 5 apps at the same time). If you are running .148 and having to do this once a day or more, something is wrong with your phone. You may have installed a poorly written app that is draining your memory, you may have corrupted files or databases on your phone, you may a poorly written theme (I think most of them are poorly written)...but something is not right. If you really want to fix it, do this: http://forums.crackberry.com/f132/re...y-leak-235048/07-02-09 06:08 PMLike 0
- Best thing to do if you don't already have the latest Verizon OS (.148) is the do a complete wipe of everything using JL_Cmder (google it) and use the DM to load OS .148. Then restore your calendar and contacts (I used google sync to just resync my calendar and contacts from google) and download your Apps again using OTA links (write down your registration codes and BB Messenger PINs first).
The trick is to not actually have to restore your data from DM. The theory being that if you restore old data and settings, you are also restoring corrupt databases that might be causing memory leaks.
I did this (took me a few hours) and my Storm has been working tons better, with more a lot more memory and no crashing/freezing.07-02-09 06:20 PMLike 0 -
