I noticed the browser is always running in the background, even after properly closing it. On my home screen, if I hold the BB button to bring up all the apps running, the browser is always there. Is it like that for everyone, or is there a setting somewhere I need to change.

No, it's always "running" in the background, but you should still properly close it after use. Same for BBM, phone, and the other native apps that appear in app switcher.

I always close apps properly. I'm very anal about that. That's why it was bugging so much.
