    Hold the BB button down for a couple of seconds.. The phone, browser, home and messages are always running in the background.

    I believe there are four programs that are always open. Any more than that and there is something you can close.

    If you go into app center and go to options, disable the automatically check for updates option or whatever it is. That'll close it.

    Disable the auto refresh feature for app center and then do a battery pull. It will not run on startup from now on.

    That seems to do the job... how about the Blackberry Messenger or is that one that stays active as well, thanks.
