I have a grasp on this whole OS/Platform update issue people have experienced when they plug in their BB to their desktops, where they actually downgraded their Platform. But I don't really understand how the OS version and Platform version differ. I'm obviously not a programmer and hoped someone could give a brief explanation? In what way does each of these tie into the operation of the phone?
It's not OS/Platform it's Application/Platform. Not entirely sure why it's the application version that's used to represent the OS version, but it is, and it's just not something that's worth spending a great deal of time worrying about.
To my knowledge, the platform version is controlled by the sfi file and is considered the core OS whereas the app version is the java files. They both work in conjunction, but sometimes you can mix and match.
