I also tried sending the ringtone from my computer, and that didn't work.

You could always just plug your phone into the computer and drag the MP3 onto your phone. You BB will let you choose any audio file as a ring tone.
As far as the email, are you using a service or just attaching the MP3 to an email to yourself, because my email filter on my phone doesn't receive email if it was sent from the same account.

Thanks ND, I will try that with my computer. That's also good to know about email from the same account.
