Can anyone tell me how turn off the keyboard when I go to a 3rd party app.?

Typically taking your finger and sliding it down the keyboard will hide it (alternatively, taking your finger and sliding it up from the bottom makes it reappear).

Keep in mind though, some apps weren't made with the Storm in mind so in some cases, you're stuck with the keyboard.
