Can anyone tell me how to get my storm to display the 3G mode? It is consistently on 1XEV mode, no matter where I am (from NM, to CO, to Calgary, Canada)

I called verizon and I am not really satisfied with the answer given that 1XEV is the same as 3G.

The network connection on my BB is setup as follows:

    Data Services = ON
    Mobile Network = Verizon Wireless
    Network Selection Mode = Automatic
    Network Technology = Global

    Thanks

Verizon has different codes than GSM. 1XEV is in fact 3G. 1X means you have data but at the lower speed. 1x is phone only. 1xev means data is available but your phone can't access it.
    Basically you're fine.

1XEV is 3G. You will never see "3G" unless you are overseas. 1XEV =GSM's 3G

Edit: Theres been a ton of threads on this. Verizon did not lie to you.

That means you have great Verizon coverage!

Alright, the OP's question has been asked and answered so before people tomorrow want to come in and add their 2cents, and what ever else, I'm going to close this thread.
