so i just bought a unlocked storm and the guy gave me the wrong usb cable so i went out and bought one from bby and when i plug it it the alarm picture pops up but it doesnt show anywhere on my comp that its connected. dm doesnt recognize it and on my computer it doesnt show it either. i tried using dm version 5.0 and 4.6 and got nothing. anyone know what it might be. im trying to upgrade the os to 5.0

I would suggest trying to restart both the computer and the phone and try again. You might have possibly gotten a wrong cable.

i will try restarting both. i bout a cable that is the same style plug in as the wall charger plugin. is it possible that this cable is only for charging not hooking up to computer .

I think it might be a possibility, but if it's charging then it should be able to be recognized. Normally if the computer doesn't recognize the phone a simple restart of one or the other will normally get it working again.

so i restarted the phone and computer and it still does the same thing.i dont think its charging it just showing the alarm clock screen unless i unlock it.

so i just looked at the box for the cable i bought and i think its only for charging casue its a usb charger but doesnt say anywhere about transfering stuff from the phone to computer or anything like that. and it probably not showing charging icon cause it got full battery. i gonna take my comp to work and see if i can find a different cable to hook to comp. and see iff that works. quick question though. im gonna put the at&t service books on the phone for the browser thing and all. but do you think i will loose the service books when i upgrade the os to 5.0. or should i wait to put the service books in until i upgrade the os

I would wait until you upgrade simply to save yourself the time and effort of having to do it twice.

true. this really sucks to bestbuy doesnt sell a micro usb cable. EPIC FAILURE. that means i got to spen 14 bucks on one from staples. i got the charging one for 3.50

Have you tried setting the mass storage to on? Options/memory/mass storage/on always worked for me when my comp wouldn't recognise the phone.

yea the mass storage mode is on and i also turned the auto enabled mass storage when connected to on to and still dont work. i think its the usb cable im using cause it only says it charges.

ok got it to sync to dm but im trying to upgrade the os and it says on dm that i need a active blackberry services subscription. anyone know how i can upgrade my unlocked storm to 5.0

i got the service books on now btu when i go to the browser it says "insufficient network coverage to prcess request" even though i have almost full reception
