I am REAL new and have a berry 9530 with verizon(2 yr contract). What does unlocking a phone mean and do for me and are their antivirus protections for a smartphone? Can this phone get infected with a virus?

Unlocking a phone allows you to use the phone on another network.

BB's are well known for being quite secure, hence the popularity in the business sector. Not sure if any antivirus protection is available. I suppose someone with too much time on their hands could write a virus that would infect anything. As the norm when dealing with the www, just use common sense and some general cautions as you would with your computer. JMHO .

As of now there are no viruses for blackberry's They have had people purposely trying to create viruses for them and they have not been able.
