not sure if its a problem with the phone, or just where I live (Cleveland Ohio)

but I keep reading how everyone always see's 1XEV on the upper right of the screen which is the 3G network.

what is it though if it only shows 1X? Its always been like that on mine, every once in a blue moon the 1XEV shows up, but doesn't last more then a few seconds.

am I not getting 3G network here or somrthing?

Have you tried updating your roaming capabilities?

Try *228 from your cell phone. I live right outside NYC and my 3g coverage sometimes goes out. It all depends on where you live.

I had an odd problem like that on my phone except mine would show 1XEV in the corner but as soon as I start to browse the web and a webpage was being rendered, it would switch to 1X. Once the page was done loading it would then go back to 1XEV. Granted it just happened once in a certain area so I am going to assume that I may have been in a "gray" area.

Try updating your roaming profiles like the other on here recommended.

    Coverage Locator - Verizon Wireless

    Just for your reference:
This is verizons coverage map, click on 3g network comparison to the left of the refresh map button.

I'm surprised you don't get full 3g coverage in cleveland.

You could try contacting verizon to see what the coverage is in your area but CS is either hit or miss with their information, or try turning your radio off then on because it may be having problems.
