I want to start d/l some of my cd's onto my blackberry so I can listen to them on the go. Does anybody have a recommendation for a good, preferably free, mp3 converter?

Not exactly the most user-friendly, but this yields the best results and is free:
EAC to rip the CD, then LAME to encode to mp3

I already have a good CD copier/burner.... I just need the software to convert it to mp3.

Is LAME easy to find? google search perhaps

If you're computer savvy, you can download the source from LAME MP3 Encoder and compile it yourself. Alternatively, you can go to LAME MP3 Encoder :: Related Links to find pre-compiled binaries.

    then just do:
    lame --vbr-new -V # song.wav song.mp3
where # is between 0 and 9 and represents VBR quality (lower number means higher quality).
