I was just digging through the the differrent options screens and noticed under advanced/security options there is a "memory clean" option that is off. Does anyone know what this does? Is it application memory?

It cleans the cached info from some memory areas. It's not what you think it is... that's why it's under Security. Think of it kinda like deleting Temporary Files and clearing out the Form Data in IE.... kinda, but it's a rough example.

Unless you work for DoD or NASA, you probably don't need it.

If your phone isn't encrypted in the first place it is a moot point.

Civic is right, but my guess is that is securely deletes and encrypted information and security caches much like the pc does when you use a file shredder

If you do a Google search, everything that turns up points to it being a secure delete. It can indirectly have an impact on free app memory, but it's not going to be an excuse for not closing out apps, and all the usual stuff.
