Marking email as read
- According to a Level 2 BlackBerry Support Specialist which i talked to via Verizon Wireless Tech Support, they told me that theres no way of it happened when you view your email in your BlackBerry and have it be read as well on your desktop. But, they told me you can do it via the GMail app for the BB. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone. and the GMail app is Storm compatible...it does mark as read on your Storm and it will be marked as read on your desktop.12-18-08 08:09 PMLike 0

If you set up BIS with Gmail IMAP, then you will have OTA syncing of read/deleted messages from your phone to Gmail (e.g., you read email X on your BB, and within a few seconds, email X on gmail.com gets marked as read automatically). You do not need the Gmail app.
Note that BIS+Gmail IMAP does not currently support two-way OTA syncing (e.g., messages read on gmail.com do not get marked as read on your BB).
Edit: and if you also use a desktop client that supports IMAP, theoretically it too should reflect the read/unread/delete via gmail.comLast edited by buxleyp; 12-18-08 at 08:19 PM. Reason: clarity

I personally love the gmail app as it notifies me of new emails automatically, my changes are reflected almost immediately when checking from a PC, and it retains the threaded messaging view. I've also heard that if you set up BIS then you also get a copy of emails in your main message view.12-18-08 08:47 PMLike 0
