JUST ORDERED (small discounts)
- In the interest of informing the community and hopefully getting everyone favorable deal, I will post my order process and the discounts I received. I am not representing that any of this information is new (so please don’t flame me). I’m just providing the process for others to follow if they so choose.
- The telesales rep I’ve been in contact with (Kevin) called me today to tell me that the Storm can be pre-ordered right now.
- I am a NEW Verizon customer, so I am not able to make use of the recent $100.00 off flyer.
- I purchased the phone for $249.99 (with $50.00 mail-in-rebate).
- I negotiated to have the $35.00 activation fee waived.
- I negotiated to have the $20.00 overnight fee waived. I will received the phone on Saturday delivery. I don't know if the quoted $20.00 is true or inflated.
- You can also get a combination of a variety of accessories for a cheaper price (but unfortunately, the docking station is not a choice). I got the car charger (normally $29) and the leather holster w/ clip (normally $24), for a total of $34.00. This gives me a supposed $19 discount, assuming the quoted original prices are correct. They also offered the plastic holster and another generic leather pouch for discounts.
- The rep said that he could not make the rebate instantaneous, rather than mail-in.
- The rep confirmed that the $100.00 discount flyer was only for NE2 customers that had met certain plan thresholds.
By the way, the combined talking and data plan is cheaper than I originally thought. My talking plan is $39.00 and my BES data is $44.99, which totals $85.00. The telesales rep offered it to me for $79.00 / month. I don't know if this is standard protocal, but that means I'll be saving $144.00 over the course of 2 years.
So, now that I’ve finished writing that, I realize that I really didn’t get any discount at all. I’m still paying $199.00 for the phone. I guess I just avoided the overnight fees and activation fees. Good luck!Last edited by liquidsense; 11-18-08 at 04:13 PM.

Does anyone know if you get a discount on the BIS too if you call through Verizon? People were all up on wirefly's nuts because they were offering the handset for $149.99, but if you think about the long term discounts and less activation fee and overnight fee, you are saving almost $150.00 by buying through Verizon (assuming you get BES). But I wonder if the same is true for BIS. Anyone know?11-18-08 05:04 PMLike 0 - Please post back in this thread when you get the phone. I am very curious if you really get this phone overnight.
I have ordered new hones and done the overnight but I have never received the phone overnight. There is always a delay with the distribution. I hope you have more luck than I had with tele-sale pre-orders.11-18-08 06:20 PMLike 0 - Please post back in this thread when you get the phone. He replied with the obvious answer that he can't guarantee that the mail service do their job right, but guarantees that they will place it into the mail carriers possession for overnight delivery on Friday.
His oral guarantee is really worth nada, but he seemed very sure and knowledgeable. I guess I just have to wait and see.11-18-08 06:28 PMLike 0 - I just had this chat, I'm still not convinced on Next day delivery. I'm guessing their take on next day is "next business day" which I would guess to be Monday.
Please wait for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience!
