They made you use *insurance* for that? It sounds more like a defect that would be covered under the manufacturer's warranty which, unless I mistaken, is 1 year.
its just like medical insurance. You dont think you need it until you actually do need it. Its well worth it in my opinion unless you like to drop 500 bucks for a replacement.

That's true but only to a certain extent. My wife 'takes care of her things' but the screen on her Storm cracked due to a fall onto a ceramic floor from a mere ~3 feet. All it has to do is land the wrong way and, boom, insurance claim or trip to VZW to fork over 500 beans.
