Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on getting insurance on the storm? It's $5 a month plus the deductible ($50). Just wondering if you guys thought it was worth it purchasing...or if you have other suggestions. Thanks
Go for it, even if it wasn't the Storm, it's great to have. $5.99 a year is about $72 plus $50 for each claim, so lets say you do two claims, thats $172 for two new phones. Lets say you didn't have the insurance, I believe the cheapest phone without a contract is $279 but correct me if I'm wrong. Two phones would be $558. IMO $172 > $558. And that is if you were going with a different and cheap phone, lets say it is the Storm, thats a total of $1000, $1000 < $172.
But lets say you never lose your phone or never make a claim, $72/year is a good price and also good to know if you ever lost your phone, you don't have to pay full retail.
Now speaking of insurance, what about car insurance. Here I am paying $2k/year and I have no claims on it at all, but knowing that I have insurance makes me comfortable, just not my wallet.
Get it. If you are the primary line on the account or are a single line at $60 or higher, you should be able to upgrade annually. So, get it for a year and then take it off. If something happens after that, you should be able to upgrade at the 2 year discount anyways.
BTW - when i got this phone at best buy during the release date, the BBuy rep was trying to get me to buy Bbuy insurance instead of VZW's and said that the deductable was $100. l0l...
I couldn't get the insurance for my Storm because I bought it at wirefly.com
Although I only paid $100 for my storm I still would suffer the $500 replacement.
Most of the time insurance isn't worth it but with a phone such as this it is a MUST HAVE.
If I had a RAZR and I lost it I could just simply replace it by going on ebay and finding one for cheaper than the yearly cost of insurance or about the price of the deductible.
Your contract is for two years most likely right? So if you pay for the insurance over two years that's only $120 over that time span. Not bad at all!
I was very upset about the non-insurance so if something happens to my Storm I will just get a new iPhone that should be coming out later this year and switch to AT&T.

Also, Verizon has 2 insurance prices: 4.99 and 5.99. the 5.99 includes an extended warranty = warranty coverage for however long you have the phone. The reps will sometimes only mention the 5.99 b/c that's all they get paid on. But they only make a dollar on it, so whatever.
Anyone know what the difference is between Verizon's 2 insurance prices: 4.99 and 5.99? I know one extends the warranty...but what does that actually mean...vs the 4.99 plan. Thanks.
