I bought a Storm that was on Verizon Network, unlocked it and am using with att now. However the "my number" displayed in the phone application still shows the old Verizon Phone number. How do I change it? I am not able to click on it to change.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Dont know if this will work but try this

    Options>advanced options>SIM card

then press the Blackberry button, then select edit SIM phone number

Let me know if it works or if someone could confirm that this is the right way please post.

Can't change it, as it is set by Verizon when the phone is programed.

You can change it but you have to make sure you DON"T change any other settings in this menu

    Dial ##000000

**** ONLY Change: Mobile Directory Number to your phone number and that's all
Then the BB menu button and save it

    Your number will then appear

    - with the cell connection turned on,
    - go to the dial pad, enter ##000000 and hit the dial button
    - this will bring up a config screen
    - hit the delete button to remove the number in the "Mobile Directory Number" field at the top, and replace it with your cell number with no 1 or dashes
    - hit the menu button and select save
    - the phone will reset and you can now log in once the phone reboots

    enjoy !

Would this change the number displayed on someone else's caller ID if I were to call them?

I've been looking all over the place for a fix for this particular issue..... you da man!

Though I noticed there is an "Area Code" field, can I change this one too or just change the "Mobile Directory Number"?

    Thanks again!

I know that Bell's is ##111111. Not sure if that will work with a Telus-branded phone though. Can't hurt to try.

Well I am on Bell and ##111111 doesn't work with my phone.... From what I understand ##111111 is the default, used for initial activation. After initial activation the MSL password is different for each phone!!
And Bell can't locate mine. so my Storm is now useless!!

    Hello all,
I'm also a happy camper because I found this fix thnks, but here is a new challange, it seems that even though I was able to go through the process listed above and change the old Verizon's number to my number, I steel get this "number unobtainable" error message whenever I try to make a call from my Storm from my Contacts list, the only way I can call is by dialing (ounching in) all the numbers and then pressing Send. I cannot even send sms messages to my contacts...
Can someone help me? I am sure I am not the only one having this issue!
