can anyone help me i cant send sms messages all i get is the error with a red x next to my message mobile equipment status failed ????

if your phone is activated, I assume you have email through BIS?
If so, here is the site BlackBerry Internet Service for Vodafone

Setup your account and it will send service books to your device.

You can also jus try a battery pull..

(Take out your battery while the phone is on and leave it out for 20 seconds, then put it back in, if it doesn't work then resend the service books)
