OK... I have been lurking daily, actually many times a day, for awhile now and have figured out the "rules" such as they may be. I have tried for two days now to unbrick my nuked Storm... I have followed all the recommended steps. I have searched for the answers. I have 4 separate windows open as we speak and trust me I have tried it all verbatim. I upgraded my OS awhile back with the Bell 76 version with no problems and was excited to try the 83 so off I went... and then this (see attached picture).

I have used JL_Cmder. I deleted the OS & device software and reinstalled. I rebooted my pc. And tried it all all over again and still this message.

I now throw up my hands and am asking for help from those smarter and more experienced than me.

My lovely Storm is truly now just a brick holding down printed off crackberry forum how to posts and my desk...

delete and reinstall .83. that should bring back all files if any were missing for whatever reason

Did you delete the vendor.xml file?

ps. I didnt delete the vendor file because I am a Verizon user. But I am willing to try anything at this point!

Did you run the initial config out of a zip file? If so you need to extract first then run the exe file. You won't get an error on install of the desktop program but it will cause this exact error when updating.

No, I downloaded the *.exe file from megaupload link that was posted a few days back when this leaked out... I think Kevin posted it.
