My employer requires my device to be encrypted. So I have it set up to require a password after an hour of sitting idle.

Many times I want to put it in my pocket, so I push the lock button at the top. The problem is that each time that I push the lock button it requires the password to be entered in order to use the device.

Is there a way to just lock and unlock the screen without requiring the password to be entered?

You would have to remove the password...

You have to disable the password, then lock will just require hitting the lock button a second time to unlock it.

Thanks. My employer requires the device to be encrypted. I don't think that I can remove the password...

Locking the phone doesn't encypt anything. It's just a lock.

Locking a phone makes it much more difficult for someone to access the data on the phone in case you lose it.

There's a reason why many companies and many IT policies require locking.

    Encrypting is not a panacea.
