I wiped my storm and everything is going great. I downloaded and installed the .83 OS

But when I connect my Storm, the only OS's DM lists are .65, .75, and .75 preffered. No .83

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Please help.

    Hold ctrl+shift+esc

In the task manager close everything that has to do with blackberry and RIM. Once you do that open up your DM again click on Application Loader then under Update Software click start. It should be available now.

.....or just reboot the pc. Also be sure you deleted the vendor.xml file.

I don't even run DM. Just go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and run loader.exe. That'll initialize the update wizard and install the software onto your BB.

Try the forum search function. That seems to usually fix that.

Well some peeps have DM set to open up when windows starts so that wouldn't work all the time.

I have no such thing in my RIM program files folder.

As far as folders go, I only have: IS71 Connections, 1033, Help, IS71 Engine, IS71 Desktop, Template, Images, and Documentation

Run search for "loader". It is probably under program files>common files>RIM

True, I don't know why anyone would want that set up that way. But you are correct.

I did a seach for "vendor" and the file came up in the "AppLoader" folder in RIM.

Why would such a folder show up in the search, but not when I go: C:>Program Files>Research in Motion?

100 buck says you have Vista. Delete it again, then go empty the recycle bin.

Ha Ha ! Seriously? Vista notorious for not actually deleting the file but copying it to another folder. Did you find and delete it again?

No Vista---I was dumb enough however to not notice the difference in

    C:>Program Files>Research in Motion

    and

    C:>Program Files>Common Files>Research in Motion
