Did that, re-tried, and same error. I rebooted the PC, cleared the cache, and did a battery pull on my old Storm.
My new Storm was shipped without a battery, so I have to wait for the device transfer to complete, then take the battery out of the old Storm and start-up the new one!

Re-installed DM and still the same error! I have successfully made a back-up. Should I just perform a back-up? (and manually reload any 3rd party apps?)
Wow. Just had the same error message. Trying to switch devices from ATT Curve to Bold. The Switch device wizard on my desktop starts and asks asks for original device to be plugged in. It backs up old device, asks for the new one to be connected then after few seconds gives "fatal error" message. My info is backed up all the time and i am not worried but curve is broken and i need the new phone up and running right away for work.
Ok so I have been work to switch from one Tour to a replacement for the tb problem for about 2 hours now. I keep getting the fatal error message during the backup of the old device. I have cleared the cache aswell as the cookies. I have tried dm: 4.6, 4.7, 5.0 and 5.0.1 all with no success! What else could be the problem?
