Today while browsing the VZW website, I noticed that the Storm 9530 is no longer offered. I wonder if this is a sign that it has been discontinued. I see that many of the other Blackberry devices are continuing to receive OS upgrades but not the 9530? Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Am I stating the obvious, or has anyone else wondered what's going on?
It's still being offered on the VZW site for $49.99 after rebate. I don't think it's in production any longer so whatever amount of product they have is it. It's in its final hours, so to speak, and has been replaced by the 9550.
All of the other Blackberry models have received numerous updates though mostly GSM models. A ray of hope just surfaced as the 9630 just had a leak so we may still see some action on the 9530....hopefully, anyway.
jdk2,
Thanks for the update. I was pretty sure the 9550 was replacing the 9530 but with hundreds of thousands of 9530's still in service, I was hoping the software support from RIM would continue for a while longer. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a new OS leak in the near future.
Until then Lyricidals and OAK's hybrids may be the only option for ugrading the 9530's performance.
