I am a student in the US from a European country and currently I have VZW. It will be very cheap for me to obtain a European Sim card that works (roaming) in the US. Ideally, I would like to have that card in my storm for primarily SMS usage. I understand that the phone will have to be unlocked first.
The question is: Would it possible, here in the US, to go in an easy way (e.g. selecting from a menu) from my US VZW account to using the SIM card account so I can receive my SMS/calls?

Changing from VZW is not an option, as the two GSM providers have horrible reception in my area, not to mention the lack of 3G that VZW already provides.
Actually, from all the insinuating docs and mentions, the SIM slot should come unlocked on the 9530. That said, you should be able to do what you want to do if you change the network provider you're attached to under manage connections, but we'll need to wait for an official release to know more.
