So i broke my storm yesterday and i bought a new one for 50 bucks..

so when i got the phone i went through all the settings and switched everything so i can have better battery life...however when i came to mobile network settings i notice my phone has a new feature - GSM/UMTS Network Technology and for Network mode it allows me to choose 3G, 2G, 3G/2G.

When i click it - it say Mobile Network *none* and says Searching for UMTS...is there anyway i can get 3g on this phone? or is this a useless feature/does anyone else see this?

What can i do to make it 3g?

Okay when i click 2G now, it says Mobile Network "AT&T"? what theeeee?

Verizon has 3G. If you are on GSM like TMO you will only be able to receive 2G in the states. UMTS is the network for over in Japan and such.

Are you running an unlocked storm or is it still Verizon locked?

and change it to 1XEV, that is the only thing VZW uses and it is 3G

Yes, as long as you select the different network options you get those. That's why it's important to know your network and what type of settings you should have it on I was running mine on UMTS when I first got it lol

yep sure do. its been there all along. on your old storm did you do any OS upgrades or did you use it pretty much the way it was out of the box? i remember this being an option as far back as .75, not sure about .65 though.
