What is the function of the format option in the memory option. I'm not that brave to find out myself. Does it format entire device or just RAM or something else?

From there you can have it format your Media Card or Device Memory. It askes you which one. When you get to that selection menu you can back out.
I have used it for the media card. Never tried the device memory.
