I have my gmail set up on my phone but for some reason it will only keep emails on my phone for 30 days. When I go to email options -> general options and set the 'Keep Messages' option to something greater than 30 days, it still only keeps my emails for 30 days. Am I doing something wrong? Is there another setting somewhere that I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try setting that option to 'forever'. That way you choose what to delete and when. That may work better because the phone isn't keep tracking of any sort of date that way.

Could it be a setting in gmail that you need to adjust on a PC?

I don't think so. The emails remain in my gmail account when I log on from a PC, but my phone only displays them for 30 days. I also checked the settings by logging in to my BIS account but there is nothing regarding how long to store emails on the phone.

Mine keeps my messages past 30days including my gmail when set to forever. Do you have any message hiding or filing turned on?

Check your application memory as well. If it starts to dip down too low it starts deleting old emails / texts / call logs.
