Is there any FREE software out there that can help me edit a song to create a ringtone for my storm?

All my music is currently in .m4a format and i'd like to edit and save a portion of a song to create a ringtone.

Do a google search for a program called audacity. I use this program. You can drag and drop the complete file into audacity and then edit the file the way you want.

However, the OP should probably grab the beta (Audacity 1.3), rather than the "stable" version, since the latter will require that the .m4a files be converted to another format first (typically WAV from within iTunes).
