Hi. I am leaving for a cruise tomorrow (yay!) and I *thought* that I would just TURN OFF my storm. Well, we all know that can't happen. In order to avoid mega cost do I just disable the "data" portion of my phone? That way I can still receive phone calls? But no internet? Please advise. Thanks.

You can't have a Storm with Verizon and not have a data plan. End of story. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

How long is the cruise? if its only a week it rlly shouldnt matter or do what I do go on cragislist and but a cheap *** Razor and switch them out
Thanks Tom. I know I will still pay with Verizon -- I just don't want to "receive" anything and have to pay the ship internet fee. I guess I'll just have to ask when I get on the ship -- telephone help isn't understanding........
Thanks. Have a great day!
Call Verizon Customer Service and ask how much an "international" data plan is. I don't think it is too expensive. You can add it before your curise and drop it when you return.
good idea, int'l plan....however, you'll still be charged roaming rates for voice and data on the cruise ship...
personally i'd go online to vzw.com and search around, find the roaming rates, and it should clarify what the per min/per txt rate is, and any data rates...it might be better to use data and avoid calls/txt
it's been awhile since i've had to deal with this, didn't even thing about the cruise ship rates...glad this came up and refreshed my memory!
Cruise ships do charge an exhobitant rate for voice calls but I don't think they have capability for Data. Something that definitely needs to be checked on prior to using it.
