Since some people have lost their preloaded tones, do at your own risk...

No that does not work he wants to get the demo stuff off which requires removing the memory modules since they are locked from deletion on the handheld

Only thing that came back was the empty sample folders.. Those never go away, no matter how you do it, i've also since done the online OS reload and they stayed gone...
I might have done a softreset right after I deleted, can't remember...

Yeah, older BB's you had to pull the .cod files, not on these though, kinda a nice change..

Strange. It didn't work for me. I still have all the pictures after a battery pull.

If you did this and some stuff still shows, you might need to redo it, BUT go to media>pictures>explore, they really are accessible to delete from the handset, it's one of the very first things I did before I loaded my stuff on...

Did these both and do not have the option to delete in any of the system folders.

I see these three files in the /system/ root, do these have something to do with it?

Everything in these folders shows up with a lock on it, and unlock is not an option

    CreationInfo.txt
    preloadcontrol.bak
    preloadresult.1st

Do the above at your own risk, some members have reported losing their preloaded alert tones afterwards...

Thanks for the help and patience for this doubter

i expected to see more memory free up after that. The system folder is not RAM? Is the system folder actually stored on the Device Memory 1Gb?

Yes, OR vin diesel hacked into your phone

That's the only sample that really uses a chunk of memory...

Does that delete all the ringtones that came on the phone too?

I think it does. That's why I have not done it. I would love to lose the sample pics but keep the ringtones. Is it possible? What about the cod file?

No, the preloaded ringtones are a .cod file in your os, deleting that causes many headaches, it is doable, but takes some OS massaging that's really not worth it, this just takes out Vin Diesel, the sample pics, and the sample song...
