Are there different cell towers that only cover data and seperate ones for voice? I ask this because I need to know if I will get data coverage at my cabin in the ADK Mountains. We get about 1 sometimes 2 bars while standing on our dock. Would this mean we would'nt get data coverage there?
If there is VZW Coverage of any kind there your device will work. If it is 1x only your browser will operate slowly but still operate. If you are going to an area that is extended network or roaming than your data will most likely not work. Your phone will display Extended network when you get into one of these areas. However feel free to keep using your phone in those areas for calls and texts as VZW does not charge for roaming.
you can also dial *228 to update your registration with nearby cell towers. this might help with your situation if the cabin isnt your primary location.
