My Storm worked perfectly for 2 months, UNTIL I got that same error message when trying to open camera.
Unfortunately, after battery pulls and talking with tech support I had to have a replacement Storm sent to me.
VZW was very courteous and my refurbished Storm came quickly and is working excellent.
I forgot to add tech support walked me thru wiping the phone and reloading software, without success of course...but it is something you could try.
I know a few people had the same problem and there are some threads here you could search for and possibly find different results and help. (a few people just squeezed a certain part of phone, by the camera and it started working again!)
Mine had this problem right out of the box. It's a hardware issue. Took it to my local verizon store the next day and they said they hadn't seen one with that problem before. They just swapped me out for a new phone.
I would have to agree with it being a hardware or board issue. I work at a cellular repair shop, I had a pearl come in with this issue today running 4.2. I wiped the bb with jl cmdr, installed 4.5. Still no dice. Used crack util to remove an it policy just in case and copied a camera_cod from a pearl without the issue. I went as far as bricking the bb with crack util for an error 537 no os and re-installed 4.5. No luck. Anyone else have any luck?
