I was not even able to install the desktop manager to my laptop using the CD that came with the Storm. I downloaded the software from the BB site (via computer!) and it installed perfectly. I did not have to download the separate drivers file doing it this way. But I bet if Alphroman downloads the drivers from the site or just starts over with the DM from the site, it will work.
Ah damn sorry.. Try rebooting, running around the house 3x.. doing 10 jumping jacks.. and then taking a shot. That'll work.
Hahah... by this point I'm willing to try it. I'm gonna through all my files and make sure everything is completely deleted, install the drivers from the white cd, then the thing I downloaded from the site. But tomorrow. I'm to sick of this tonight.
When your BBstorm is connected by usb to your computer, under Universal Serial Bus controllers you should see "BlackBerry Smartphone." When I right-click on Blackberry Smartphone and select Properties, I'm showing the driver date of 04/16/2008 and driver version 4.1.0.4. The USB drivers are installed in the following location: C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\RimUsb.sys
i have the same problem with the hardware wizard popping up eveytime i plug in my Storm. went to device manager and found the Storm listed, but an unknown object with no drivers installed has shon up with the yellow ?. i deleted it, but it showed up again. it has no drivers attached to it and cannot find any anywhere...... kinda bummed!
There is a separate USB driver download available on the Blackberry site. Did you try downloading it as well as DM? If not, try that and then install it on your computer.
also i keep getting an error saying that "the software that you are installing has not passed windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows xp."
I have this same problem.
Suddenly all of my Vcast music tells me that I cannot listen unless I sync with my computer.
Tried installing, but get an error with both discs.
Read thru this entire post. Tried all previous suggestions. Reboot. Uninstall/ Reinstall. No good. My computer will NOT allow me to run this program properly. I just want to listen to my music THAT I PAID FOR.
