Ok this is my first post here. I have officially switched to blackberry so I decided I would do it with the Storm. Got my Storm from verizon on Friday, was 4th in line from a store that only have 10 units. Anyways, to my question; I have read the specs that the Storm 9350 is supposed to support H263 & H264 MP4 Playback. I have tried several different movies that are all H264 MP4 format and none of them are playing. I keep getting the error "format not supported". Anyone else getting this problem and or know how to fix it?

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Like my 8830, I had to download youtube downloader, and convert my movies into 3GP format. They're working fine now.

Yeah but the specifications say H264 MP4. Do you think this has something to do with the OS rollback? Any word on if there is going to be video updates? It's going to be pretty annoying to convert all my blu-ray ripped h264 mp4 to 3GP.

Use the Roxio Media Manager that comes with the for BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.7 to copy the video files onto your phone and it will automatically convert the transferred files for optimal playback.

I'm playing h.264 files just fine.

Depending on the source, I'm using either handbrake or Super C. My container file is an mp4.

    What settings are you using?

I had the same problem with recorded video playback from the on unit video recorder. Any solution for that? I would have thought that the Storm's video recorder would have recorded in the right format.

I use SuperC to convert files for my Storm. The video is gorgeous!! But the audio is out of synch I used the settings that have been posted on a very long thread here in the forums, but alas the audio issue.

Anyone know how I should set them so that it's right?

I had the same question regarding the unsupported error when trying to view some video taken by the storm. I think i resolved this issue by turning off the "Encrypt Media Files". Once i changed this to "NO" i was able to playback the video. Hope this helps.

My phone plays mp4, avi, a lot of stuff. It chokes on high res avi that aren't formated for the storm, at least it did sometimes before the update. Haven't tested it yet.

I can record the video but can not play it back as well, My BES security profile does not allow to turn off media encryption. Any other suggestions?

I'm getting the same "unsupported media error" when trying to playback videos on the device that I record using its video recorder. Can you indicate where is the option to turn off "Encrypt Media Files"? I've searched all the menus, but haven't come across it yet.

Appreciate the hints. However, when I'm surfing Reuters,
my expectation is that I should just be able to open/play
    their videos, n'cest pas ?

I recently upgraded to the Storm from my 8703e (Verizon) and am having the same problem, but it seems to have surfaced after updating the OS to Verizon issued .75. I e-mailed support, but find it interesting to see this problem fairly widespread.

Edit, correction. Their normal videos are flash. If you're reading mobile Reuters (which I assume you are) the videos are 3gp.

Your Storm should play 3gp just fine. What errors are you getting?

Top right is green.loading, which switches to red/Error Playing.
"The media being played is of an unsupported format."

Worrisome since Reuters is the default HOME.

Are you sure you're loading the mobile site (mobile.reuters.com) and not the main site (www.reuters.com)? Also, do you have your user-agent set to BlackBerry and not IE/Firefox?

I could view typical Reuters videos with (65). Then, by
happenstance, I stumbled onto a very soft porn video.
After switching to (75) I cannot see any Reuters videos.

I CAN see a Terminator Video that I just drag and drop from
    the site mentioned above.
