I currently have the 4.7.0.141 installed on my Storm.

I have just downloaded the BBM 5.0 which I use alot
I use texts
music
videos
calls (obviously!)
browser calender
camera

Im not too sure if the above list will determine what OS I should have, im pretty clueless as far as the "up-to-date" stuff to download goes!

Wow, havent seen anyone running .141 in quite some time. Jump on .151. Great OS with great memory management and very improved over .141 and .148. That or you can give hybrids a try.

Edit: My bad I just saw you have a 9500 not 9520, my bad.

i would go with .173 IMO, had worked my way up from .141, most recently had .164 and loved and .173 is just that little extra im diggin it so far

if you don't mind downgrading to bbm 4. 7 and omitting camera use, 5. 0. 0. 191 is incredibly fast and stable with flick scrolling and threaded SMS

They also make some very subtle but logical changes to the gui.

E.g. Clicking in the bar signals brings up connections

Clicking in the digital clock brings up the alarm clock

calling voice mail automatically brings up the dial pad

Yup .. with .151 it kept not showing my missed calls or even recent calls but .167 is very stable and fast.

Dont forget though, dont use themes with .167. You will get notification errors and sometimes no sound from alerts.

If you have the 9500 jump to the official .173. It is a step up from .167 and is just as good or better.

Thanks all for the replies.

I am a total novice when it comes to this type of stuff so will apologise that many of you have possibly seen many posts like this already!

A few of you have posted up that the .164 is best and the .167 I have heard too........ thing is will both of these work on a 9500? I notice that the ones saying .167 have a 9530 and the ones saying .164 have a 9500???

Would be great to have the advantages of a faster OS for my 9500 but am still a little confused, .164 or .167???

Also do I need to save it to my BBDM or can I download either of them direct to phone?

Yeah, I generally don't like using other themes anyways because they don't do much for me and usually don't stay with one for more than a day. I also went up to 5.0.191 which really works well but I'm not sure if the lack of camera .... may go back to 167.
