could not agree with you more...i guess we all spoiled now with so many things you can do on a phone...you want more and more...I remember when just TRYING to make a call AND TALK for more that 30 seconds on the old analog phones was like and now even though you can surf the net, send emails, watch video, listen to music, take pictures, make videos etc etc what else can you ask for will maybe walk the dog,do the laundry, food shopping...when the IPHONE starts doing those things then and maybe then i'll complain...

on my 3rd storm by the way but still happy
That's a good point. We do expect a lot from phones. Many people on this forum expect entirely too much

agree 100% with original poster. I came from a long line of Palm devices and phones. My last was the Treo 700P. I had never used a Blackberry before so it was a huge learning curve.

Occasionally I have to work on my boss' Treo. I hold it in my hand and think "how could I ever have thought this brick was great".

This reinforces my point. To me a decent digital camera costs about $200. I have a couple of them and when I want to take a lot of pictures I use them. This thing costs $200, browses the internet, is a phone, calendar, a reasonable camera with flash, has gps, speakerphone, bluetooth,..........how much do you really think they can fit in this thing and sell it to you for $200. With the later updates I think the camera works great.

iphone = camera with no flash and no video
storm = better camera with flash and video

I don't see the comparison. I use it to take pictures when I don't have another camera convenient and I'm just thrilled to have it and that it works good. My prior blackberries = no camera and not a lot of other frills either. Heck the cameras in most phones are so low resolution that they aren't even very useful at all except for people to view on another crappy phone screen. And this one will mms, e-mail, or upload them directly to the net on the social type sites.

    Just my .02

Totally agree. Great phone and all it will do is get better. I think a lot of the problems people are posting about is that the majority of them don't know what the f*** they are doing with it. Just a thought!
I have been a computer consultant for almost three decades now, and have dealt with all versions of Microsoft Windows, Linux, and every other buggy software that Microsoft has ever put out, and this phone tops them all! The thought that anyone would claim that this phone is great must not be using their phone, because .75 is a nightmare, with it's bugs and random resets! It is slow, it constantly freezes when it wants to, and should have never been released to the market, with this many bugs! This phone is crap! PERIOD! Just look at the list of fixes they have in .113, and then tell me what a great phone it is and that others don't know what they are doing...

I am just lucky I have never needed to call the police, fire, or ambulance when it has decided to have one of it's random reset attacks, because waiting almost five minutes for a reboot could be the difference between life and death! I am just praying that Verizon will release an update that actually resolves these issues soon, because I shouldn't have to worry about installing hybrids and leaked OS to get it to work properly!

Now don't get me wrong, because it is a great leap in technology for RIM, but they really should have put more work into it before releasing it to the market, so don't blame the individual, for poor programming, because this phone is flawed! Just look at the list of fixes from .75 to .113, and then tell me people don't have a right to complain!

I agree with you also. Once the software releases become more stable this is the best touchscreen. I finally installed a stable os which was a hybrid and it works extremly well. The phone does pretty much everything.

I am using my phone to its potential and personally I havent seen a PDA yet that is 100% perfect and such but I for one do not have any of the issues you seem to have sorry to say (or actually good to say )....

Me too. IT backbround for 15 years. I'm not saying the phone doesn't have faults. I'm just saying that my job has gotten easier since I got it compared to any device I've ever owned and I like it. I get a whole lot more bent out of shape that Microsoft still has to have patches for a 7 year old OS like XP to prevent a new virus from infecting the PC. 7 years seems like long enough to have closed up the holes. Especially when you look at the revenue stream generated by something like Windows. They send out a CD and a box and gets good money from all the millions of installed base and still takes forever to fix things in their software. RIM has a substantial sum tied up in the hardware that we are getting for a great price and they are working to fix the software.

I know there were things I didn't think my 8830 or 7250 did well and I would have loved to have seen updates coming out every couple of months making them better. Heck I wanted the column type browser from the curve forever for my 8830 and it still wasn't there when I got my storm. I've just seen more effort to fix things with this one than I seem to remember with the older ones and am trying to give credit where credit is due.

I also want to say that I'm really impressed that this thread has stayed on such a positive note and that there are so many others like me that like the phone. I just like the positive vibe that the forum had before the storm was ever in the picture. It seemed more like a group that tried to make a limited capability device do things it wasn't intended to do and be excited about it rather than demand the world from it and be upset that it didn't was our car too. Thanks for all the supporting posts to my praise of the storm.
