These Themes Are Huge Memory Hogs!!
- Hey guys, I know themes are great to change the look on your storm, but believe me I had several on mine until I decided to delete them all and just keep the one that came with it. It's like a whole different phone with out them.
These themes are huge memory hogs!!!! By the end of the day my app memory would go below 10mb and my phone would run very sluggish.
So after a few weeks of playing around with all sorts off themes I decides to just delete them. WOW what a difference!!!! I could not believe how different the storm performed. Try it so you can believe me. You will see a difference.03-23-09 10:14 AMLike 0 - Yeah but RIM will probably fix the issues. Plazmic is limiting and the buggy OS doesn't help. Can't point fingers at the theme makers.

Unfortunately I’m having an identity crisis and I can’t leave with out Ax and my new Fav ubuntu!! Plus I’m not really a fan of Precision Zen.
I can leave with doing a batter pull a day.03-23-09 10:26 AMLike 0 - Hey there all, I too noticed the memory hogging! I have iVista2, Android, and iBerry Today Plus themes installed but do not have them running. I am waiting for the official OS from RIM to release. Even different OS builds do not make a difference. Currently, I'm running 114Hyrbridv2_reduced_java. Still no change in the response. I have more memory due to the hybrid builds but the leaking is still there. I agree though, the phone is totally different when using the Precision Zen. Good luck, have fun playing around. -BT03-23-09 11:01 AMLike 0
- I've deleted all the themes, and went back to precision. Problem solved. Not a big boost on "attractiveness", but it gets the job done03-23-09 11:26 AMLike 0
- I still run .75 and themes do not kill my memory. I feel it is more your running beta OS's that contribute the most...I just find it odd with people blaming apps and themes all the time, when at least on my phone, any wierd memory fluctuations have been from running beta OS's...03-23-09 11:29 AMLike 0

- Yeah, not putting anyone down. I guess it just depends. I like the brilliant color of my display right now, I cant stand the color banding of any of the new OS's. I wish this had been more marketed as a business tool, with entertainment capablilites rather than a multimedia adventure, we would not have hlaf the people complaining about the phone we do now.03-23-09 11:39 AMLike 0

- Maybe I'm the only one, but I have an issue answering my phone correctly in ALL themes minus the Precision Zen.03-23-09 12:26 PMLike 0
- I don't know how some of you are still running .75, it's such garbage compared to .109 or hybrid .114. I held out on the beta's for quite a while, waiting for an official, but couldn't do it anymore and I'm glad I started upgrading. Obviously the theme's take up more memory, they're probably larger in size then the original and more graphics intensive. They certainly look alot better.03-23-09 12:29 PMLike 0
- I finally decided to delete all the themes except for the original theme. Phone is now running 10 times quicker than before.
I love the themes, but can't handle my phone being as slow as it was. Accelerometer wasnt working, and it took forever just to go to another app/screen. Until the memory issue is leaked then I will stick with the original...unless I find a theme that i absolutely cannot live without.03-23-09 01:06 PMLike 0 - I'm using a 5300 with .78, I have tried and enjoyed several of the great free themes on CBerry. All had some effect on memory but android by e seems to have little or no effect. I however only keep only one third party app in memory at a time, why keep five or more when you can download them when you need them? My only regret is that I am currently dead broke and cannot donate at the moment. My two personal top two are android by e and appleberry by a dude who's name escapes me at the mo but who does great work.

This is just my opinion of course and by no means definitive. I have noticed memory leakage even with only precision zen on my BB which leads me to wonder, what are non theme third party apps doing to memory?

03-23-09 01:52 PMLike 0 - not all..most but not all
i recently deleted all themes from my device and just put the "Colored Leather Zen" themes back on ( 5 altogether) ...im at about 38-40mb steady
that's including running about 4, 3rd party apps03-23-09 02:30 PMLike 0 - This is exactly why I stopped making my custom Gators theme. There's no point in spending tons of time on creating a theme if I can't change EVERYTHING on the phone at the moment, and if there is a memory leak. It would run smooth for a few hours then all of a sudden I would get the hourglass when receiving phone calls, but the incoming call would not show up. I have very important calls I have to answer every day and it's not fun when you can't pick up the phone or see who's calling.03-23-09 03:19 PMLike 0
- Not all of them are:

Here is my findings so far using the Alien Theme:
Saturday
43.72 = 05:21 pm
43.14 = 05:35 pm battery pull
41.95 = 06:00 pm organized icons
Just discovered the icons move on the home screen! WOW cool stuff!
38.00 = 06:30 pm @ park filming my 1 1/2 year old son via my Storm
Then in holster (sleep)
32.62 = 09:42 pm wake up.
38.55 = 09:50 pm twittered a bit. (My Storm always has dropped a bit when a asleep then picks up again when active.)
43.75 = 10:07 pm deleted a app and had to do a battery pull
40.71 = 11:00 pm just sitting around
Sunday
