I recently just helped jaxjon make his Nexus2 theme 6 times faster [literally].
If you're a theme developer and you use transitions in the homescreen, please remove them. They slow down the theme so much.
Especially changing from landscape to portrait and going into the homescreen you can have up to 10-15 second lag. If you remove the transition, it makes it almost instant.
Feel free to use other transitions throughout the theme though as those don't decrease performance as much as the homescreen transitions.
Me too, seriously, the transitions took like 6 seconds to load, now they load instantly. I noticed that many of the themes that I've tried [and I've tried plenty] slow down a lot with transitions, where as the themes without them complete run lightning fast even with a bigger .svg file. [I hope that's proper terminology.]
