I'd suggest that you all start donating via his PayPal links. He continually warned everyone that if no donations came in he would either go elsewhere or go premium. Looks like all our greed made him do both. He is obviously fed up with it for him to completely avoid all 4 topics that still get action on the 1st page of the forum.
Again, I'd probably say we all start donating to his PayPal links if we ever expect to see him back....
Just my $0.02 anyway.

I would prefer him take it premium and put it in the store then. If donation is the expectation then I may as well get it from a store with guaranteed future download support. There's no question that e's themes are better than 90% of the stuff in the store.

from what i understood he didnt leave because of greed and all else u mentioned breezer.
i was under the impression fatherhood and livelihood became a realization and hence he choose his newborn and his woman over the time consuming aspect of theme making..
and as me being a father myself..in all honesty, that was the best choice he could have made.
E has had close to a million dloads for his themes. Seriously!
I definitely think donations were few and far between and yes, I think going premium is the way to go
E has definitely made some great themes but a lot of times people will download the theme try it out for awhile and then want to try something different. So it's hard to get people to donate if they don't keep the theme!
Plus there is always the chance you will pay for a theme and it doesn't quite work, and you get no support from the theme builder. It happened to me from another very popular theme builder in this forum, I payed for the theme, it didn't work, and I got no support! So people are definitely skeptical when it comes to paying or donating for a theme.

We're the greedy ones? If he wants money for his work, then it's time to charge. You can't guilt people into donating. Either charge, or don't. Simple as that. Here's a true story for your ***....You can't make the headline of each theme, FREE!!!! and expect money.
As for having almost a million downloads, even charging a damn QUARTER (25c) for a theme you immediately lose 9 out of 10 of your users, atleast, lol. It sucks.

People download free themes to check out, I know I downloaded a couple of his. But you know what, I'm not using any of his theme's, not a one on my phone. Can't gauge the number of downloads with number of actual users. Like everyone else mentioned, those who think they should be getting paid for their theme's, stop the "Donate" angle and set-up a shop on CrackBerry store. I can say I've easily looked at over 100 FREE themes, I've donated to several that I used for more than a trial period. The other 90% of themes basically were downloaded, looked at and removed. I'm using _1_ (and I sent donation to the developer).
I agree. Go premium. I sent him multiple PM's asking for a custom version of his Win7 theme in exchange for a donation of his choice and never heard back. I am still willing to go that route if he's interested.
Basically I think E is done with Storm themes. Not enough donated, and as one who tried the donate thing amongst other developers, I got maybe 1 out of a thousand that would donate.
Sad thing is, if he were to start charging for his Storm themes he would be labeled as a "****" for starting to charge, and just by charging he would lose probably 90 percent of his supporters. One million downloads would basically turn into 1K.
Well I'm fine with 1000 rather than a million if it keeps him making themes, haha. I'm not a cheap *** and have no problem giving out $3-$6 for a well made theme.

I hear ya, I'm also one of the few that donated to E, this was before I started to create my own.
I think he should go premium. I love his themes and would be more then happy to buy them. And like dsantopietro said, I would love to donate for a custom one. It would be awesome.
I'm sorry I don't agree with charging people or expecting money from people when you put your time and effort into something for other people for fun, obviously he isn't a RIM theme developed therefor he's doing it as a hobby and shouldn't expect to be paid for it.....I think charging for themes all around is completely bogus cus it soesnt cost a dime to make them....now asking people to donate if they want something tweaked or changed or made personally is a different thing, but again its no cost to the developer so imo its wrong to take peoples money.....
