Hi this is a bit of an observational thread. I've tried many themes from
This forum and the quality of many is top notch.
As things had gone a tad quiet on here and I was a bit flush I thought
I'd give the premium themes a whirl.
Not gonna name an shame, but I was pretty shocked to find that of the ones
I tried I found they were overhyped, failed to fully describe glitches and a big anti climax.
I really regret not donating on here instead and sticking with the free ones with which some
Are far superior to some of the bigged up primo con jobs.
    Anyone else find this?

i dont know if i would consider them "bigged up primo con jobs" but in fact maybe just what they would consider something to charge for.

Do some research on the theme creator before buying their theme. See if they have anything else released and what the turn out for that was.

I am with you. I have bought 2 themes and am currently not using either. I am using a free one that I got right here from the forums. You live you learn.

I am pretty sure if you let the developer know how unhappy you were or that you felt misled they would offer you a refund..I know if one of my customers felt misled or was unhappy for any reason I would have offered it before they asked..I am sorry you guys had such bad experiences..

I don't think you should complain about and not name people if you haven't already sucked it up and asked for your money back. I understand you aren't satisfied but I see no point in saying your unhappy and not being willing to do something about it.

By premium I'm assuming you mean paid themes? or are you only referring to themes that are offered in both free and premium.

if you are referring to all paid themes, I must disagree. I haven't tried all of them of course, but the themes I have paid for have been excellent. there are have been problems, but the problems have always been resolved quickly.

If you are talking about premium themes that also have free versions, I can't comment since I've never purchased any of those. do you think that there is much difference from the free version and the premium?

I completely agree w/ the OP. No way I'm paying for a theme only to not use it and/or it turns out to be a big let down. I've donated to several developers how have graciously offered up there work for free. I try them out, if I plan to use, I donate. It's going to stay my practice.

I agree also with the OP. I refuse to buy something that I cannot try personally. When it comes to the developers that post them for free, they end up getting the better end of the deal from me. I know alot of people are just insanely cheap and don't pay no matter what, so when I get a good theme that I will use they get a donation between $5-$10 which is better than they would have seen out of me if they would have charged for it.

Me too. I bought one as well and it was a major dissapointment. Wont do that again.

+1 who won't pay for a theme without at least a trial. I bought several that were very hyped, and wound up ditching all of them within an hour.

On the other hand, I've been happy with themes by elycruz0102, BboyerUGA and Cozper, and have donated to all three.

I'm currently using Ecruz's Win OS 7, which is perfect for my needs (and a heck of a lot better than another OS 7/Vista knockoff that is being sold as a premium theme).

Seems to me that developers who put a theme out there, knowing it's top notch and hoping people will reward them for great work, are more confident in their work than those who want the $$$ up front.
