I recently moved from a 9900 to a Z10, and I've been added to the new BES10 server. Now, when creating outlook meeting invites, the capability to check attendee's availability is gone. Am I doing something wrong, or is this functionality just missing now that I'm using Activesync under the covers? If the functionality is gone, do you think there's any hope it's coming back sometime soon?

I am able to see free/busy data on my Z10. There is a "View availability" button in the participants section when creating the meeting invite.

Strange, that button isn't showing up for me. Maybe I'll give the BES admin a shout and see if there's a setting that needs to be changed.

There is nothing as far as I'm aware of on BDS that would influence that. More likely is the version of your Exchange servers that are running ActiveSync (for example Notes don't sync if you hae less than Exchange 2010). I am using Exchange 2010 and haev view availability.

Check with Microsoft and see if this option is available in your Exchange server if you are not using Exchange 2010. Or to confirm if it's a BDS issue remove your device from the BDS server and connect it directly to ActiveSync, if you continue to get the problem its a Microsoft problem.

Thanks, I will mention that to my BES admin. He's talking with BlackBerry support right now about it. I did confirm that we are on Exchange 2007.

Is this all users or only some users you cannot see the free/busy times? Create a new entry, invite a user (a different user than one you have been experiencing issues with), and right under the invite attendees section is the view availability button.

Doesn't matter who I choose, the button does not show up. I'll see if it's happening to the others on BB10 and let you know. Thanks for taking the time!!

100% sure it is set to the work calendar. Tried it from both the work and personal space as well, same result.

Go to calendar, swipe down, settings, Meeting invite settings. Check your account there as well to make sure it is all set up properly

If it is there, it is probably an Exchange setting. Make sure all the BESAdmin permissions are set correctly for 2007/2010, including throttle policy etc.

Thanks. I checked all the account settings and everything looks fine.

    Everybody's having the same problem.

I'll let you know what my IT Guys say about exchange 2007 settings once he's off the phone with RIM.

You can't use those settings on BES10, they are only for BlackBerry Professional Server which predates BES5.0 and BES10. Also it mentions to give the BESAdmin users send As permissions to the mailbox, well again that won't work as BES10 doesn't use this method.

I find it interesting how the end users at a company are getting on these sites to do the work their IT support staff are supposed to do!

Like I said before disconnect the device from BES10 and connect it directly to ActiveSync and see if works.

    Thanks,

I was part of a small group of militant BB10 users that got them to install BES10 in the first place; they had no plans. They are just about to move it into production and announce to the user community that the new blackberries will be fully supported!

I just got confirmation that Exchange 2010 is required. BlackBerry support told our IT guy that it's not supported between Activesync and Exchange 2007.

Hmm .. we have Exchange 2010 here but we didn't see that button too

Rights for the BES_Admin are ok. We use the same account on our BES 5.x and F/B is working there without any issue.

    Any suggestions?

The BESAdmin a/c doesn't access your mailbox anymore, so doesn't need the same rights. Indeed BBRY specifically recommends not using the same account.
The issue will likely be in Exchange config then. There is nothing in BDS to configure.

Why should it be in the Exchange Config if it is working with BES 5.x

Do this.. Take the device off BES10 and connect it directly to ActiveSync, then report back if you are getting the same issue, if you are its an Exchange config problem.

Take what you know about BES 5.x and throw it out the window, BES 10 is a completed different system from the ground up. That's why oufc_gav suggests that it could be an Exchange config issue. But do what I said, take the device off BES10 and connect it to ActiveSync then test everything; this will confirm if ActiveSync is working correctly on your Exchange 2010 server.

    will do so.. bbl

anyway I checked the BDS Admin and Setup Guide and I didn't found anyhing that I need to configure on my Exchange Envirorment expect for the Service Account (BDSAdmin).

    Does anyone have more informations?

Done.. we even deleted the Device from the Exchange Active Sync Devices.

Then connected it back with Active Sync only (bye bye BB Balance)...and.... NO F/B either.... strange... what now? We didn't see any F/B option in the Active Sync Policy settings on the Server (Exchange 2010 SP2).

Just another Information.. another User with a Z10 on the same Server CAN do F/B. #totalclueless

User with working Free Busy has a Z10 with Software Version: 10.0.10.672 / T-Mobile
User without working Free Busy has a Z10 with Software Version: 10.0.10.738 / Vodafon

    newer Version broke it????
    Or is it the carrier?

We tried a different User on the not working Device... also not working.. so not User Related.

Because BES5 ran its own sync technology and was in complete control of it. BES10 uses the standard Exchange functionality of ActiveSync to perform all malbox actions. BDS in BES10 offers very little actual control (42 policy items compared to hundreds in BES5).
