Anyone has heard anything about how the BES12 licensing will work? How much will it be for existing BES10 customers to upgrade?

Its a lot cheaper than I expected honestly. Its 900 plus 8 dollars per device (perpetual license) annually for "basic" support. I forget what they call it. Technical advantage or something. I spent like 1900 or so which gives me support and access to latest updates and version upgrades.

No. BES12 licenses are more expensive, because the TSS is included. And there are only annual cals, no perpetual any more.

    Hi deiop,

Can I ask how you know this information, is this from being a user of BES 12 under an NDA or is this now publicly available info ? (if publicly available do you have any links to it ?).

    Thanks.

if you go to the blackberry enterprise store you can still purchase perpetual silver licenses ($38) for v10.1. In order for me to officially be on bes12 I needed a support program (Advantage Support = $900 + $8/silver Perpetual CAL). https://usenterprisestore.ecomm.webapps.blackberry.com/direct/index.ep

I would recommend getting as many perpetual licenses as you can with bes10 and get a support agreement so you are entitled to bes12 when it comes out and your cals will transfer over. Then the only annual thing is your support contract.

    and yes im under NDA

Thanks for the info. $900+$8/silver license yearly isn't too bad.

I just talked to my BlackBerry contact in the UK.

BES 12 licensing will be available in two forms:

    1) Annual CAL including T-Support. This is the only way to acquire new licenses. Silver and Gold licenses will continue. Prices will be slightly increased.

    2) Upgrade of perpetual CALs if you purchase a T-Support contract.

I'm not sure I can share the ERP, but it should be available in a few days.

If the $900 + $8/silver CAL/YR is correct the cheapest solution for 60 users or less is the annual CAL. I assume the $900 is also per year.

For bes10 at least the annual cal is $19 and the perpetual is $38. Neither come with support so you need to tack on $900 for the program and $4/cal (if you are annual) or $8/cal (if you are perpetual) for support if you want to be entitled to bes12 soon. This is for silver licenses btw.

the bes12 licensing forms sound right from what ive seen.

It better be worth the increased cost !.

I'm on an 'Introducing BES 12' web conference this Friday 14th when as part of it they'll be detailing pricing, if it's not competitive then people are bound to look at alternatives.

its easy to install and nicer to look at lol Adding apps from the app store is easier in the console too then previously. We just use basic MDM meaning no secure work space so i cant comment on how that works. Theres a whole section for migrating users/devices/policies from 10 to 12 which is super useful/helpful.

my only concern is migration from 10 to 12 for the end user experience but thats more of an iOS restriction/process then anything.

So I installed BES12 to try it out. Now I can't figure out where to get the trial licenses. Under licensing summary it says 0 license. The only thing I needed to put in during the installation was SRP ID and key. I don't remember getting any trial licenses in the email either.

Figured it out myself: I ordered it using Google Chrome and it only added the software itself into the cart. When I just tried to order it again using IE it added extra support and trial licenses into the cart too. Blackberry needs to do a better job on this.
